"This victory is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his previous six title deciders, comprising in the German tournament earlier this year.

Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and play positively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

He fought back from a break down in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, winning 4 of the last five points to gain the advantage.

Both players traded breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to create a third set.

The opponent defended four early-game chances in a competitive third set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Appropriately, Medvedev clinched the title with a point at the net, with the Frenchman unable to control a volley after a lengthy match.
